Youth & Young Adult Programs

Community Based Service for Mental Health

  1. Ministry of Child and Family Development: Sechelt Child & Youth Mental Health (CYMH)

    Children and youth can access free and voluntary community-based mental health supports and services in BC.

  2. Ministry of Child and Family Development: Gibsons Child & Youth Mental Health (CYMH)

    Children and youth can access free and voluntary community-based mental health supports and services in BC.

General Community Services

  1. Rain City Housing

    Provides shelter and outreach services to Gibsons and Sechelt. Sechelt shelter and outreach services are open year round and Gibsons is a seasonal shelter.

  2. Shishalh Nation

    The team consists of a Community Health Representative, Health Programs Assistant, Public Health Nurse, Community Home Care Nurse, Home Support team and Meals on Wheels. The Health Care Team promotes traditional and cultural approaches to health practices.

  3. Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Gibsons

    Provides drop in mental health navigation services, peer navigation, low-cost counselling, SMART Recovery Group, Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), and various online groups

  4. Sunshine Coast Community Services

    A community-based organization; programs support pregnant and new moms, families, children, youth, adults, and seniors through crisis response, support programs, housing, and advocacy.

Adult & Older Adult Programs

Community Based Service for Mental Health

  1. Vancouver Coastal Health: Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT)

    Provides assessment and treatment through individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and psychiatrist referral. Serves clients with depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder.

  2. Vancouver Coastal Health: Intensive Case Management

    Supports for individuals with moderate to severe substance use disorder. May or may not have additional mental health issues

  3. Vancouver Coastal Health: Adult Community Support Services

    Supports for individuals with moderate to severe substance use disorder. May or may not have additional mental health issues

  4. Vancouver Coastal Health: Older Adult Team

    Adults aged 65 and over who have developed a mental health problem, or behavioural issues related to advancing dementia, or have medical problems related to aging that complicate the treatment of a mental illness.

Community Based Services for Substance Use

  1. Vancouver Coastal Health: Intensive Case Management

    Supports for individuals with moderate to severe substance use disorder. May or may not have additional mental health issues

  2. Vancouver Coastal Health: Opioid Replacement Clinic

    Provides harm reduction supplies/services (safer smoking and IV supplies, POC HIV test, Naloxone kits, take home fentanyl strips, safe sex supplies), treatment referral support, risk mitigation prescribing.

  3. Vancouver Coastal Health: Older Adult Team

    Adults aged 65 and over who have developed a mental health problem, or behavioural issues related to advancing dementia, or have medical problems related to aging that complicate the treatment of a mental illness.

Hospital Based Services

  1. Vancouver Coastal Health: Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit

    6 bed acute care unit in a designated facility which provides an integrated multidisciplinary team approach

  2. Vancouver Coastal Health: Mental Health and Substance Use Emergency Services

    Provides access for patients requiring MHSU Emergency Services at the Sechelt Hospital Emergency Department. Physicians within the emergency department have access to psychiatry consultative services Monday to Friday and a MHSU Nurse 7 days/week.
