Substance Use

  1. First Nations Health Authority: Telehealth

    Telehealth (also called virtual care) uses live, interactive videoconferencing to connect patients with health care providers. Telehealth allows First Nations individuals living in remote or rural areas to receive some health services without leaving their communities. Health and wellness providers: call 1-833-456-7655 for for assistance or referral.

  2. Addiction Medicine Clinician Support Line

    Provides telephone consultation to physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, midwives, and pharmacists who are involved in addiction and substance use (SU)(care and treatment in British Columbia. The Support Line will connect these health care providers to an Addiction Medicine Specialist who has expertise and knowledge in addiction medicine (including emergency, acute, and community care). Consultation can include support in screening, assessment, treatment and management of SU and SU disorder(s)

  3. eRACE: Electronic Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise

    A novel strategy to enhance patient care, currently in the prototype phase. For traditional referrals, patients often wait months to see a specialist, however minor advice may be all that is needed. Conversations are mediated through a web-based platform, and GPs are able to attach clinical documents that may help specialists in making a recommendation. An educational interaction with knowledge transfer is encouraged when the specialist answers the call.

  4. RACE: Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise

    An innovative model of shared care where primary care providers can call one phone number and choose from a selection of specialty services for real-time telephone advice. For physicians and nurse practitioners only

Mental Health

  1. Bounce Back

    Bounce Back is a free virtual health skill-building program that helps people 15 and up who are experiencing mild to moderate depression or anxiety. It is available anywhere in British Columbia with a referral.

  2. Keltys Key

    Provides online therapy which is 100% free. Offers self guided modules on anxiety, chronic pain, complicated grief, depression, family support, insomnia, panic, and substance use problems.

  3. Wellness Together Canada - Youth

    Created in response to an unprecedented rise in mental health and substance use concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with funding from the Government of Canada. Wellness Together Canada is here to support you on that journey.

  4. Compass

    A province-wide service that supports evidence based care to all BC children and youth (0-25) living with mental health and substance use concerns. This is done by supporting community care providers with the information, advice and resources they need to deliver appropriate and timely care to children and youth close to home.

  5. Foundry Virtual - Online Support

    The Provincial Crisis Lines Network provides short-term emotional support and intervention by phone for people throughout British Columbia who are in crisis or contemplating suicide. 1800SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433) is for individuals considering suicide, or for those who are concerned about someone who may be at risk of suicide. 310Mental Health Support (310-6789) is a crisis line that provides emotional support, information and resources specific to mental health and substance use disorders.

  6. Vancouver Coastal Health Residential Historical Abuse Program (RHAP)

    The Residential Historical Abuse Program funds trauma specific counselling for adults who were sexually abused as children or youth while living in the care of the British Columbia provincial government in placements including foster homes, group homes, and certain residential facilities.

  7. Interventional Neuropsychiatry Clinic

    The Interventional NeuroPsychiatric Clinic is located at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health at UBC. The clinic provides psychiatric consultation covered by MSP for persons who are considering non-invasive neurostimulation therapies (Electroconvulsive Therapy, Magnetic Seizure Therapy, repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation). Referral to the clinic for an assessment is simple, your family physician or psychiatrist can complete the referral form.

  1. PHSA: Breaking Free Online

    Breaking Free Online is an online relapse prevention application available at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction. It helps clients and patients with substance use challenges stay on their recovery journeys.If you're currently a client at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, you can take part in Breaking Free Online. Staff will help you download the app onto a personal mobile phone or tablet.
