Telehealth (also called virtual care) uses live, interactive videoconferencing to connect patients with health care providers. Telehealth allows First Nations individuals living in remote or rural areas to receive some health services without leaving their communities. Addiction Medicine Clinician Support Line
Provides telephone consultation to physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, midwives, and pharmacists who are involved in addiction and substance use (SU)(care and treatment in British Columbia. The Support Line will connect these health care providers to an Addiction Medicine Specialist who has expertise and knowledge in addiction medicine (including emergency, acute, and community care). Consultation can include support in screening, assessment, treatment and management of SU and SU disorder(s)

eRACE: Electronic Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise
A novel strategy to enhance patient care, currently in the prototype phase. For traditional referrals, patients often wait months to see a specialist, however minor advice may be all that is needed. Conversations are mediated through a web-based platform, and GPs are able to attach clinical documents that may help specialists in making a recommendation. An educational interaction with knowledge transfer is encouraged when the specialist answers the call.
